GANDER MOUNTAIN TO HOST MWC COUGAR PRESENTATION

BATH Ð The Michigan Wildlife Conservancy, in conjunction with Gander Mountain in Lansing, will present ÒLiving With Cougars in MichiganÓ on Thursday, October 13 at 6:00 PM.

Thousands of Michigan residents have reported cougar sightings but few understand the basic biology and behavior of the big cats. This presentation by MWC Executive Director and wildlife biologist Dennis Fijakowlski will provide tips on living in cougar country including recommendations to follow should one encounter a cougar while on foot.

More than six years ago, the MWC began uncovering evidence of cougars in our state. Many biologists and wildlife officials presumed cougars had vanished nearly a century before, however, repeated sightings, DNA samples and livestock kills continue to compel the MWC to collect evidence of the cougarÕs presence in our state.

Guests are encouraged to visit Gander Mountain, located at 430 North Marketplace Boulevard, at the Southwest corner of I-96 and Saginaw Highway (M 43) to learn more about living with the cougar in Michigan.
